SCI-FUN: The Scottish Science and Technology Roadshow

Participating in Scotland's
Science Festivals

In addition to our school visits, we participate in science festivals across Scotland.

Our extensive range of hands-on exhibits are a significant addition to the festivals we attend, allowing members of the public of all ages to learn something new.

Every year, we are involved with the University’s official contribution to the families programme at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, which always receives excellent feedback.

Attention, festival organisers

If you are interested in involving the SCI-FUN scheme in your event, there are some aspects to consider for our potential participation:

  1. There could be the opportunity for local STEM Ambassadors, or other volunteers, to become part of our delivery team. (We will bring some of our own student assistants; this is subject to their availability, which varies throughout the year.)
  2. Depending on the expected number of visitors, we require a space of approximately 15m by 12m (or equivalent) and access to several wall sockets. (We have our own extension cables.)
  3. We will usually aim to set up the activities the day before the event itself, depending on the overall timings.

Finally, we ask for a contribution towards our basic delivery costs, which are determined on a case-by-case basis.

If you would like further details, or to discuss how we may be able to work together, please contact us.
