The S1/S2 Subject Choice process

The subject choice process for S1 and S2 pupils is one of the most important and most difficult stages for any young person.

It is tricky to know what exactly you would like to do in the future, and therefore, which subjects are going to be the best for you to study so that you can achieve your ambitions.

Fortunately, there is plenty of advice available to help piece together your thoughts, but it may take some time to find something that will help you personally.

Some extra help

To assist, we have some links on our previous website, which you may find helpful. There is a comprehensive list of careers websites, some of which have a specific science focus, so you can see how science subjects can be really useful for a wide range of jobs and careers – not just the stereotypical ones. The sciences give you plenty of flexibility in your choices later in school and beyond.

The latest incredibly useful site we’ve found is Future Morph. This has loads of interesting and useful ideas and activities that can really support your thoughts on future career options and current subject choices. It is split into different sections, so if your teachers, parents, brothers or sisters are looking for guidance too, there should be something for them on this site as well.
